I host a Dessert before Dinner party on Sophie's birthday every year and I think you will see from the 'residue' there was quite a bit of sugar consumed on this beautiful afternoon. I have cupcakes, koolaid, candy necklaces, flavored sugar in EVERY form imaginable. I think that it was dinner for some :) I usually have one of the little ones ask me about Sophie and it ends up being a pretty good learning experience for them. I missed several of my favorite little people this year but scheduling conflicts wouldn't allow them to make it. I will be there every year on March 12th with cupcakes in hand so anyone who wants to come...consider yourself invited. Click here for more pictures...and sugar.
What did I ever do to deserve this life?
Two years ago I was asking myself this question wondering what I had ever done to deserve losing my baby girl. Why did I deserve having to live through what amounted to hell here on earth? What was I going to do? How could I go on with this empty hole in my heart? I didn't think it was going to be possible.
Today, I am asking myself the same exact question. What did I ever do to deserve this life? Why do I deserve this precious angel I now call Landry? She makes my life so complete...absolutely complete. How was I able to have the resources and support to build a playground for the children of our church parish and have it blessed with Sophie's name? Why do I deserve to have a family that loves me and takes extra steps to make days like today happier than they should be? Why do I deserve my friends? Where do I start? I have the most incredible friends that anyone could ever ask for. I have a very diverse group of friends that I love and respect in more ways than they will ever know. If I am half the friend to them that they are to me, I will feel like I have accomplished great things in this life. I couldn't possible write everyone back that wrote me a sweet, thoughtful, touching note today expressing their love for me and more importantly, for Sophie. I hope you all know that I have read and reread each one of your emails and have saved them in a special file so I can go to them when I am having a sad day. Your words will sustain me in all my days to come. Why do I deserve a husband that puts up with the Nay Nay madness?! I run like crazy and then collapse. He can't tell whether I am coming or going most of the time and far more times than not, he supports me in what ever I want to do. We are both such 'passionate'...opinionated people I worry if Landry will ever get a word in edgewise! Then again, if she is a combination of both of us...I shouldn't have a fear in the world! Time heals...life moves on and things do get better. You wouldn't have been able to convince me of that three March 12th's ago but today, I have been asking myself what in the world could I have done to deserve this life.......

amazing.... love the playground and still don't look at playgrounds the same anymore!!! looks like the kids had a BLAST and you three both looked like you were happy to be where you were, doing what you were doing. you said before you were thinking of releasing balloons... did you do the balloon launch this year? i said an extra prayer last night for God to make sure Hope remembered her manners and told Sophie happy birthday!!!
Yes...we launched them at the cemetary when her Daddy brought her 2 dozen huge, pink roses! It was really a great day and I am sure the two of them are playing so hard in Heaven. It feels good to say that doesn't it? I promise to post a new picture today!! r
