Birthday Girl!
Well it wasn't the day I had envisioned but we made the most of it. We woke up this morning to a beautiful little 1 year-old baby girl. She was so cute in her footed pajamas. I just couldn't believe our little angel is already a year old. How can that be? How did this precious year go by so fast? Will her life be one big blur like this first year? Everyone seems to say so these days. I hear more often that not...'You better enjoy these years. She'll be in college before you know it!' If 2008 is any indication of how fast if flies, I better get more prepared than I was this morning. Landry fell back asleep after her morning bottle and slept until 10 am! We got up and her Daddy and I sang her happy birthday and you should have seen the look on her face. It was so funny. She seemed to enjoy it but was really confused. At 2:15 we had an appointment with ENT to see if she might need tubes and we decided together that we should go ahead and do it. Our doctor was great and made me feel very comfortable with our decision. She will go in on the 19th and have them put in. Thankfully, she will only be put to sleep for about 10 minutes...start to finish. That made me feel much better about the procedure. After we left there, we came home and got ready to go the wake of my friend, Pam. It was a nasty, nasty night and not the weather we wanted to be out in with a baby but it was something we had to do. Mike dropped Landry and me off at the door and we paid our respects. It was so hard to see her daughters cope with their loss. I pray for their healing hearts and hope they can find some peace during this holiday season. I have a video of Landry's haircut with Pam talking in it and the pictures I took that day. I am going to make them each a copy of it so they can hear their mothers voice one more time. What I wouldn't give to hear my mothers voice again. When we got home, we let Landry have her first taste of cake. It was kind of a prelude to Saturday's big bash. She wasn't too sure of it at first but after I gave her a taste of the icing, she dove right in. Isn't she a hoot?
