Heaven on Earth

We spent the weekend at the beautiful Camp Bratton Green in Canton, MS. This is one of my favorite weekends of the year at St. Philip's because it gives us the opportunity to come together as a church family and really get to know each other. We rough it in cabins, sleep on bunk beds that have seen their better days, share (really old)bathrooms and have no TV's, internet or phone service...yep, it's a REAL vacation! We wake up on Saturday to a pancake breakfast, we canoe, swim, cookout, play games, we make s'mores and sing songs at the bonfire, talk, fish and have an awesome crawfish boil. We end the weekend by having Mass outside near the water and follow it with our traditional potluck supper. It doesn't get any better than that! Every time I go to the Gray Center(it's across the street) or Camp Bratton Green I feel the immediate presence of the Lord. It sits on a piece of land where I truly found God and for that reason alone, I will always have a special place in my heart for it. Mike and I talked about how we wanted Landry to have a place where she could always reflect on her childhood and know that her Christian roots started in a place like CBG. She will go to camp in the summers there when she is old enough and as many Parish Weekends as we can go to, we will be there. I wanted to take a picture of her every year in the same place so we could keep track of how much she grows in her years at Camp Bratton Green. I hope she comes to love this place as much as we do.
